Responsibilities:

• Review and execute the work outlined by the construction schedule
• Review the project plans and specifications and provide comment on the scheduling, cost saving measures and potential construction problems
• Assemble the job site office and equipment requirements
• Supervise, coordinate and schedule the daily activities of workers and trades-people
• Contact, schedule and coordinate subcontractors, trades, suppliers and utilities
• Order materials and supplies
• Effectively meet all site related deadlines
• Monitor and maintain the project construction schedule on a weekly basis
• Raise, discuss, and address project issues at the weekly job site meetings
• Communicate with the Project Manager on any concerns, changes or issues that directly impact the site in a timely manner
• Maintain a safe job site and ensure that the requirements of WorkSafe are strictly enforced
• Maintain and enforce high construction standard and quality control
• Ensure that the site inclusive of parking lots, common areas and site office are kept clean, safe and presentable at all times

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Site Superintendent with experience in commercial, civil and industrial projects
• Possess strong communication skills
• Ability to adapt to changing conditions and proactively develop appropriate means and methods to meet and overcome challenges
• Knowledge in Engineering, Architecture, Building Technology and Construction Management
• Working knowledge of health and safety programs within the general construction industry
• Solid understanding of current construction practices, working knowledge of construction documents, drawings and specifications
• Ability to guide safe work practices in a high-pressure environment
• Strong leader, able to communicate clearly and promote teamwork

Responsibilities:

• Performs a key role in project planning, budgeting, and the identification of required resources
• Prepares a detailed construction schedule and ensures activities move according to the schedule
• Reviews and understands the complete contract and negotiate out any unacceptable terms and conditions
• Completes value engineering and constructability analysis
• Provides clear direction to project team and ensures optimum utilization of resources (labour, materials, and equipment)
• Ensures site safety and environmental standards are met or exceeded and performs risk assessment and mitigation
• Obtains all necessary permits and licenses
• Negotiates and prepares initial contracts and negotiates revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with subcontractors and suppliers
• Inspect and review project to monitor compliance with codes, regulations, procedures, and other requirements that affect the success of the project
• Develops, implements, and oversees effective quality control programs
• Prepares and submits budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports
• Takes action to manage and mitigate the effects of delays, inclement weather, or emergencies
• May perform other related duties as required

Qualifications:

• Degree or diploma in Construction, Engineering or related discipline with 2 + years’ experience
• Familiar with construction terms, practices, scheduling, BC building codes, costs, and budgets
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and MS Projects. Experience with Procore would be considered an asset
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, outstanding time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
• Strong work ethic – ability to work in a confidential, fast-paced environment with tight deadlines while finding solutions to problems
